It is not common for a Koala to bear twins, and regrettably in this instance the mom was struck and killed by a passing car. Fortunately the driver stopped and took the mother to the local vet, not knowing she was dead, where it was discovered she had twins in her pouch.
Its both sad news and good news!
Sad that the Koala mother did not survive and died,
Its good that the Koala babies were alive.
In the wild the Koala mother usually cares for one Koala baby,
so the chances for both Koala babies to survive in the wild are low.
It is rare enough to have Koala twins, the luck that it came to wildlife specialist
means that the chances for these two baby Koala to survive and reach maturing age is good!

I had never seen a Koala bear in my life. They are so fur-less when they are baby. Twins are always hard and usually they don't survive. Luckily for them.作者: kaka203 時間: 2013-3-13 11:36 PM
