Of course Win 7 better. Coz it's upgrade from Win XP platform...
If let say ur PC too old n slow, better remain Win XP...
Or else u can try upgrade to Win 7...

Agree with anycalle638f, Win7 64bit is better... but need to match few things too only can fully perform out... like processor, RAM, HDD..  But one disadvantages is there might some device drivers dont hv 64bit OS one... especially old devices... like printers or scanners..
