Independent senator Nick Xenophon has been caught in protests in Malaysia and says the Australian government has been mute on human rights issues in the south-east Asian country because it still wants to pursue a people-swap deal.Tens of thousands of demonstrators swamped Kuala Lumpur yesterday to demand electoral reforms, ahead of national polls expected soon.
