CARRA: TORRES HAS MORE THAN GOALS

Jamie Carragher claims hat-trick hero Fernando Torres has much more than goals in his locker.

The defender presented Torres with the man-of-the-match award following the 4-2 victory over Reading – but not before waxing lyrical about the striker's all-round game.

"It was his first hat-trick and hopefully there'll be a few more," said Carra. "He's won us a tight game. The difference was his pace, especially second half.

"There were some great finishes, but it's not just his goals, it's his all-round work-rate. He's a real team player. If he doesn't score he's still there closing people down, putting the graft in and making it difficult for people.

"He's made a great start to his Liverpool career and long may it continue."

Carra admitted it was vital the Reds clinched victory against Reading following a run of three draws.

"It was a good game to play in and I'm sure a good game to watch – a typical cup tie. Reading gave their all.

"It was always going to be a tough game but we needed that win after three draws. We're still unbeaten though, so it's not too bad! We're delighted to be in the next round but now we've got to look ahead to Wigan on Saturday and make sure we pick up the three points."
