Ronaldinho continues pre-Olympics training with Brazil

Brazil still appear to expect Ronaldinho to play in the Olympics after the playmaker spent the past week training in his homeland.

Barcelona have told Ronaldinho he will not be released for the games and that he needs to report for training on Monday even as speculation mounts that he will soon be sold to AC Milan.

However, the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) certainly appear to be expecting Ronaldinho to be in China as the 28-year-old has been working with national team coach Paulo Paixao this week in Porte Alegre.

'Despite the fact that he has been inactive for so long, by the time of the presentation of the national squad on July 22, he will be in a good place and he will prove it in training,' Paixao told the federation's website.

'He has rediscovered his joy for the game. He is once again the Ronaldinho we all know and that helps a lot so everything could go in the right direction in the work we are doing.'

Brazilian newspaper O Globo on Saturday went as far as to suggest that Ronaldinho could break his contract with Barca if the club refuses to release him for the games, although the report did not cite any sources.

FIFA rules do not oblige clubs to release overage players for the Olympics.
