If it's the not problem with the hard drive setup and CMOS, do the following


If it says that "NTLDR IS MISSING" or "Couldn't Find NTLDR" and hold Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart.  if that's the case, it means your NTLDR is corrupted.  To fix it?  Easy, but check if you have floppy disc in the drive.

1.  If not insert your Window XP(If XP) CD and load the CD first.
2.  Then don't format!  press "R" to repair it.  
3.  Then it will get to a part where it asks you directory or sth (i forgot).  just click enter or put 1 then enter. you can get into your Window now at this point.

4.  When you get back into Window, right click on the dvd drive (whichever you placed your Window XP CD in) and explore.
5.  If your dvd drive is D:\,  then copy the following files "D:\i386\ntldr" and "D:\i386\ntdetect.com" into your C:\
it will ask if you want to replace the file or not.  click "yes"

6.  THIS IS A EXTRA STEP IF YOU CAN'T SEE THE FILES BECAUSE THEY ARE HIDDEN!  
i) Open C:\
ii) On top, click "tools" and select folder options
iii) in the folder options, select the tab "View"
iv) Under hidden files and Folders, choose "Show hidden files and folders"
v) uncheck "hide protected operating system files (Recommended).

then you can see those files.  If you got another computer using the same XP, do the same thing (6).  then copy file "ntldr" and "ntdetect.com" in C drive and take those to your computer's C drive.
