From a set of oldies collections, found the song - Valley of the Doll. Its the same book title I read long ago.
I didin't know its a movie. I watched the whole thing on youtube ofcourse. I found this very lovely version of the song. Very surprised.
Theme From Valley Of The Dolls lyrics
(D.Previn/A.Previn)
Gotta get off, gonna get
Have to get off from this ride
Gotta get hold, gonna get
Need to get hold of my pride
When did I get, where did I
How was I caught in this game
When will I know, where will I
How will I think of my name
When did I stop feeling sure, feeling safe
And start wondering why, wondering why
Is this a dream, am I here, where are you
What's in back of the sky, why do we cry
Gotta get off, gonna get
Off of this merry-go-round
Gotta get off, gonna get
Need to get on where I'm bound
When did I get, where did I
Why am I lost as a lamb
When will I know, where will I
How will I learn who I am
Is this a dream, am I here, where are you
Tell me, when will I know, how will I know
When will I know why?
When will I know why...
Good Evening Bchew...nice to wake up to the sound of your goddess - Olivia - this morning.
I finished watching 小娘惹 even the story is ridiculous, the characters unreal, its still a good movie.
Good afternoon Norman....the Cafe is quiet this morning. Thanks for dropping by.
"Joy to the World" is a song written by Hoyt Axton, and made famous by the band Three Dog Night. The song is also popularly known by its opening words, "Jeremiah was a bullfrog".
It went to number one on the pop music charts in February 1971 and was the top single of the year in Billboard Magazine for 1971.
In an episode of the TV series Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) and her friend Jeremiah (played by Samuel Ball) sing the "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" part of this song on the way home to Carrie's after a party.
The song was also featured in an episode of the sitcom Friends when Phoebe, Monica and Chandler have gone to a karaoke evening hosted by Phoebe's new boyfriend, Mike. Chandler stands up and opens with the line "Jeremiah was a bullfrog".
I would like to read the book, and watch the movie too, one day.
Without giving too much away, is it about drugs? or medicine?

Yes, its about drugs....I watched the movie (again) this morning.
Did you watch La Vie En Rose, it say the drug in that movie makes Valley of the Dolls looks like childplay.
What strikes me to watch this drama in the first place was the Peranakan Culture like marriage ceremony or Nyonya culinary arts and Peranakan Architect ...

Bchew, you are right, if its not for those displayed of the rich culture of Nyonya, the making of those dishes, and food, I would not have the patient to finish the movie.
Have a good sunday lor....
